Sometimes dads just need a little creative help.

Hey dads, have you had a busy week? Been gone on a trip? Your kids miss you!

So take a few minutes to read this post and then go play with your kids. I have a good idea. You can play Hot Lava! It’s easy, just announce, “The floor is hot lava!” Everyone must immediately get off the floor. You can only get around the room (or even the whole house) by climbing on furniture.

I have two variations. First, add the element of Tag. Once everyone is safe, after you annouce that the floor is lava, then they must flee from you, because you’re “It”. The second variation is possibly better for younger kids. Toss down some pieces of paper, yesterday’s newspaper, or any other easy to dispose of paper. Those islands are safe from the lava.
